Southmoor Scholars Study Durham
The Scholars had their first trip to Durham University. The morning started in Palace Green Library with a quiz on ‘What is a book’ before learning a new skill – paleography – by analysing a Tudor inventory. Students then split into two groups looking at primary material in the archives – half looked at iconography in the Lindisfarne gospels and the other half looked at old books including an edition of The Wind in the Willows. After lunch, it was off to the Bill Bryson library and students competed to work their way through a study skills escape room.
