Southmoor Cadets Scout Out DofE Success
Cadets from Southmoor Academy Combined Cadet Force (CCF) are flying high after completing their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze qualifying expedition. The expedition, which took place in Northumberland, put cadets to the test with map reading, cooking, communication and teamwork required to successfully complete the venture.
Ending in the picturesque village of Alnham, the route was difficult enough to present a good challenge but was also designed to be scenic and enjoyable.
Cadet Luke Rowell said: “I really enjoyed this expedition; it was hard in places but that was part of the experience. This is a lovely part of the country and everyone we’ve come across has been so friendly. I’m so pleased we’ve passed this section as a team”.
Southmoor Academy CCF provides experiences and opportunities such as flying, gliding, sport, adventure training and nationally recognised qualifications. It is open to all pupils aged 12 and in Year 8 (or above) with the next joining window opening in September.
