The Scholars were visited by a PhD student of English Literature from Oxford University who specialised in Renaissance letter-writing. Scholars were given a wax-sealed letter and discussed historical methods of keeping confidentiality and ‘letter locking’. They looked at how codes could be deciphered within letters and wrote their own cryptic messages.
