Scholars visited Palace Green Library at Durham to explore the question ‘What is a book?’.  They handled books from the archives (including a first edition of Emma by Jane Austen) then recreated a Scriptorium and attempted calligraphy with real goose quills to create book covers. The afternoon was spent at Bill Bryson Library learning about research skills for their independent projects.
