Year 10 employability Skills
Whilst most Year 10 students were out on their work experience, some students remained in school attending mainly normal lessons; however, last Tuesday, the students had the opportunity to develop their employability skills with a series of workshops led by teaching staff.
The day started with an inspirational talk by visiting speaker Dr. Matt Sutherland. Matt is Associate Professor in Marketing at Northumbria University and over the last 15 years has worked with more than 500 businesses. He is also the founder of a leading podcast, a small business owner, a Non-Executive Director and sits on a working group with the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Matt spoke to our students about the importance of networking and embracing every opportunity. He gave examples of where, in his lifetime, he has made connections with people that have later had an impact on his future life. Following the talk, students took part in 5 workshops focused on CV writing, interview techniques, skills and characteristics and other important topics
