Southmoor Students Take on the STEM Reading Challenge
During the last two days of this half-term, pupils in Years 7 and 8 enjoyed lessons in English and Science as they took on the National Literacy Trust’s STEM Reading Challenge. The challenge encouraged pupils to think about how English and Science share similar skills and allowed them to share a love of reading outside of the English classroom. Southmoor was just one of the 100 schools selected to participate in the competition which got pupils reading about space, designing and building their own rockets and writing a creative story about their rocket’s journey into space. The winning rockets will be judged in May. We look forward to hearing the results!
