Skill Builder Challenge
Students in Years 7 and 8 spent the day with their form tutors completing the first ever Skills Builder Challenge Day. The theme of the day was ‘Operation Moonbase’ where students had to work together to plan, design and create their own model community. Students were using their essential and transferable skills all day to solve problems, create species of animal to help in the community, write a bill of laws, build a 3D model of their new city, prepare a short presentation to share their new society and then reflect on the day. The day was divided into 9 sessions which all related to the main question of ‘What makes a successful city?’ This challenge enabled students to learn more and put into practise the skills that we have embedded throughout our school curriculum in order to prepare them to become successful in the future.
