Scholars in the Castle

This year’s cohort of Southmoor Scholars began the programme with a matriculation event at Durham Castle. Matriculation is a traditional ceremony wherein students are formally entered into the university, so for our Scholars this was the beginning of their scholarly journey. Each student signed a matricula after a special ceremony in the Tunstall Chapel. They then took part in a scavenger hunt on campus, attended a lecture about about the assisted dying debate, and enjoyed lunch in the Great Hall.
