On Thursday, Mrs Cassells, Mr Bunn and Mrs Roddam took 24 of our Y7 students to STEMfest at the Vertu Motors Arena. This year, there were four areas to explore: manufacturing, technology, space and environment. Our students were able to meet with a huge range of companies, from Komatsu to the Centre for Life. Each station had a super engaging activity for students to take part in – we built towers, explored petri dishes, used AI to solder and even made our own coasters using pressure! We spent time in the planetarium exploring the stars and constructed wind turbines. The Northumberland Forest team were also there and gave us some trees to plant in our garden – we’re sure the Green Guardians can’t wait! Our students were exemplary role models and highlighted how wonderful Southmoor Students are!
