An Unforgettable Experience in the Heart of Africa

Over the summer 19 students headed off to Africa for four weeks for their Camps International Kenya expedition. They spent time in four different CAMPS- Tiwi, Muhaka, Tsavo and the Wildlife Foundation completing a range of projects including- building mud houses for mamas and their families, a beach clean-up with the Tiwi Turtle Police, learning to cook chapatis, coconut rice and doughnuts with the local mamas, repainting school blocks, planting trees to support reforestation, deworming goats, making elephant proof fencing, building gabions and predator proof enclosures for livestock.
As a reward for all of their hard work students got to go on two safaris, as well as a sunset safari where we saw over 30 species of animals and birds, they had a relaxing day at the beach, played games with the local communities such as football and skipping ropes, got to learn about the Massai culture and visit a Massai village, and made bracelets and elephant dung paper with the local woman’s group.
It truly was a life changing experience that these students will never forget.
