After the huge success of last years Farms For City Children trip, Miss Tinman, Ms Doherty, Mrs Roddam and Mr Summers have decided to do it all again this year and will begin their fundraising for the trip by aiming to complete the Ullswater Way Walk. It’s a 20.2 mile walk (32.5km) with a total elevation of 1,105 metres and will take them between 10-11 hours to complete. They are also choosing to do it in December so will be walking lots of the way in the dark!
They have created a fundraising link below with lots more info, should anyone wish to support their efforts in trying to secure another trip for our students next year.
Farms for City Children is a charity which enables children who live in the City, to experience the adventure of working together on a farm in the heart of the British countryside.
During the week, children will be immersed in the practical and meaningful farming tasks of the day, such as: feeding rare-breeds poultry and collecting eggs, grooming horses, feeding dairy calves, herding sheep and halter training lambs, feeding and weighing pigs, Forest School activities like den building and fire lighting and many, many more.
We are hoping that this will once again be a visit, that builds our student’s self-confidence and self-worth as they work as a team on the farm. It will be a visit full of fun, and for many, a once in a life time opportunity. We thank you in advance for any help you can provide!
