Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition – Yorkshire Dales Adventure

Recently, our Year 10 students successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

We were incredibly lucky with the weather, enjoying sunshine and clear skies across both days of walking. The stunning scenery provided the perfect backdrop for the expedition and gave students the chance to experience some of the best countryside the UK has to offer.

Throughout the weekend, students demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, and independence. They navigated challenging routes, carried all of their own equipment, cooked meals at camp, and supported one another every step of the way. Staff were extremely impressed with the positive attitudes shown by all groups, especially when tackling some of the longer stretches of the route.

The expedition was also a great opportunity for students to build confidence and develop important life skills outside of the classroom. From map reading and decision making to problem solving and teamwork, everyone should be very proud of what they achieved.

Of course, no trip to the Yorkshire Dales would be complete without encountering plenty of sheep. At one point, it genuinely looked like the sheep were supervising the expedition — although we’re still not sure whether they were checking navigation skills or just judging our packed lunches!

A huge well done to all students who took part, and thank you to the staff who supported the expedition and helped make the weekend such a success.
