Triathlon Champions!

Everyone Active Sunderland hosted the Sunderland Schools Triathlon Event. The event was attended by Thornhill Academy, St. Anthony’s Academy, Farringdon Academy, St. Aidan’s Academy and Castleview Academy and all participants competed in the three triathlon disciples of swimming, running and cycling. Each competitor swam, ran & cycled as far as they could in the allocated time and the scores were collated and compared.

Southmoor won the overall team event covering 15,050 metres in total and were crowned Sunderland School games triathlon Champions.

Individual points were also calculated and Southmoor’s Year 8 representative, Owen Brown won the overall Year 8 award for most metres covered with 2250m and Matilda Smith of Year 7 was the Year 7 champion with 2040 metres.

Well done to all the students that took part for this fantastic result for the school. Our Year 8 team included: Owen Brown, Alfie Rhodes, Evie Stuart and Izzy Hunt. The Year 7 team was represented by: Matilda Smith, Imilia Young, Aaron McGee and Daniel Trewick.
