On Monday and Friday, during Year 10 Aspire lessons, we welcomed into school Jordan Spencer and Alan Smart from EPIC Global Solutions to deliver workshops to our students about the dangers of gambling. Both speakers talked about their own personal experiences with recovering from gambling addiction. Jordan graduated from Augustana University in South Dakota, USA, and became a national basketball champion until gambling seriously impacted his pro career. Alan became addicted to gambling and sourced help from Gamblers Anonymous. Both speakerswere able to talk to students about how gambling addiction had affecting their lives and how they have overcome this to now move on and lead successful lives without turning to gambling.
