STEM Projects with ESH
We were delighted to host representatives from Esh Group this week in school to deliver STEM workshops to some of our Year 10 Maths and Science classes. The workshops focused on Construction in the Curriculum and gave students the opportunity to see how Maths and Science can support students if they wish to pursue a career in construction or the built environment.
The Maths session focused on ‘A Day In the Life Of A Quantity Surveyor’ using a real-life scenario to highlight the importance of maths skills in a surveying role. Students could use real resources such as drawings, ‘take off’ sheets to see how to deliver a construction project against a budget.
The Science workshop focused on ‘A Day In The Life of An Environmental Designer’ using a real-life scenario to highlight the use of science skills. Students were given the real example of the recent ‘Hebburn Tri Station’ construction to gain an insight into why sustainability is key in construction. We would like to thank the Lucy and Aley from Esh coming into school to deliver these sessions.
