On Wednesday 8th, Year 8 students attended a Stem Horizons computing trip to Royal Grammar School in Newcastle where they took part in activities such as programming robots and simulating networks. They also programmed Micro:bits to output animations using an LED display and the interactive unplugged activities helped students to understand how data is stored in computer memory. The students had a great day and were inspired by the activities and the staff delivering them. We are really proud of our students, with over 75% of those attending being girls which is one of the key points that the Stem Horizons programme is tackling – introducing girls to tech related careers. We look forward to continuing our partnership with RGS and cant wait to see what activities the next Bright Sparks visit has in store for us.
