Last Wednesday, our budding Year 9 medics began their ‘Routes into Medicine’ programme, hosted by Sunderland University. Jess from Sunderland University, along with medical students, hosted a workshop for our students. They started by looking at anatomy, fitting model organs into the body whilst discussing their names and functions, before looking at stethoscopes, how to use them and what to listen to/for. Afterwards, a game of bingo was played to discuss jobs, working conditions and surgeries within the medical field with prizes to be won! Students loved talking to the university students to find out more about the course and how they could be there one day! Stay tuned for more Routes into Medicine sessions over the coming year!
