Pupils at the Polls

Democracy is a key British Value. This week, as the country went to the polls to decide on the next Government, we have held our own mock election in school to see how our young people might vote, if they were able to do so. Students were given summaries of each manifesto for each of the main political parties who are standing to represent Sunderland Central constituency. Students then had the opportunity to use their one vote to decide on the party that they would vote for.

The results of our mock election were:

657 votes cast

CONSERVATIVE: 58 votes
GREEN PARTY: 107 votes
LABOUR: 228 votes
LIBERAL DEMOCRATS: 43 votes
REFORM UK: 165 votes

Abstentions: 56

In the mock Southmoor election we would declare the candidate for the Labour Party elected as MP
