Pathways Ahead for Year 9

This week saw the start of a number of events coming up to support Year 9 students, parents & carers with making their GCSE option choices. During an extended assembly on Wednesday, Mr Wright introduced the process to Year 9 students. The first main event takes place on Wednesday 14 January 2026 and this is the Parent Information Evening. During this event, parents will hear a short presentation from Mr Wright and other Senior teachers on some of the key issues to think about when discussing these choices with your child. This will then be followed by an informal opportunity to speak to representatives from each subject area about studying each subject in Years10 and 11.

The short presentation will take place at 3.30pm and again at 4.30pm. Parents only need to attend one of the presentations taking place in the Main Hall. Following each presentation, representatives from each subject area will be available to speak to in the Old Gym.

Please complete this short form to indicate which presentation that you would like to attend.

Letters have also been sent home to all Year 9 parents about booking appointments at the upcoming Year 9 Progress Evening taking place on Wednesday 28 January where students and parents can talk to individual subject teachers in addition to receiving each child’s individual options booklet. In addition, appointments are available to meet via telephone with Mrs Robinson, our Careers Advisor, on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th January.
