National Careers Week 2025
Last week, we celebrated National Careers Week. Throughout the week students learned about staff career pathways through signs on classroom doors, and staff wore yellow badges to encourage questions.
On Monday, we kicked off the week with a live virtual meeting with Kawungeera School in Uganda. This was our third virtual meeting with them, and Year 7 Aspire students had the chance to ask questions and learn about life in Uganda. They also participated in a “Dream Jobs” design competition, with judging and certificates to be awarded later this term.
On Friday, we hosted our first Southmoor Alumni Breakfast, welcoming around 35 former students from the last 50 years. After networking with staff, Year 7 students participated in a speed-networking event, asking alumni about their careers and receiving advice for the future.
We were thrilled to be joined by Leanne Cahill, CEO of Bravissimo and Chancellor of Sunderland University, along with local Councillors, business leaders, medical experts, and more. The feedback on our Year 7 students was outstanding, with visitors praising their engagement and curiosity.
Thank you to all our visitors for attending!
