Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 focused on the theme of ‘Loneliness’. During Form Activities, students had the opportunity to explore this theme further by looking at the meaning of loneliness and how loneliness can affect someone’s mental health. Students also had the opportunity to discuss ways to help with this and the importance of building connections with others and doing something to connect with each other. In assemblies this week, Mrs Mellefont explained to students about all of the different methods of support that we have in school to help students with their mental health. This includes: the use of the Tootoot app, which was launched earlier in the year, Kooth, Sunderland MIND Listening Ear service, our Mental Health Practitioner who visits school every Friday, and our School Nurses who attend every Tuesday lunchtime. Students were also introduced to Ms Murley and our recently re-launched Peer2Peer mentor programme, which is available every breaktime in room B2. There are lots of useful links to Mental Health support in the dedicated page on our school website.
