Football Season Rolls On

Our football teams continue with the start to the season with games at Home this week for Year 7 & 8. Our Year 8 continued their dominance in the Sunderland School’s League, soundly defeating Seaham Academy 13-0 with honourable mentions to George Sly and Thomas Maughan who both got a hattrick.

Later in the week our Year 8 team got their national cup campaign off to a winning start. A screamer from Thomas Maughan against the run of play put the boys 1-0 up at half time after soaking up huge pressure from a very strong Trinity side that travelled from Middlesborough.  Tactical changes and a switch at left back saw Southmoor get a foothold on the game, they started to enjoy some good field position and applied pressure of their own. That pressure led to George Sly being brought down in the box and Harry Ryan making it 2-0 from the penalty spot. With 15 minutes to go Trinity attacked us with everything they had and pulled one back directly from a free kick, but Southmoor held on to win the game and progress to the next round.

The invincibles unbeaten run continues…
