Cadets End the Year on a High

Our Combined Cadet Force have been busy with many exciting activities!

Firstly, a trip to RAF Topcliffe in North Yorkshire saw our cadets getting to grips with the controls of a Vigilant glider using a state of the art flight simulator. On their next visit, they’ll actually take to the skies for their first gliding experience.

Several of our cadets who have flown already will now be eligible for their RAFAC wings, having completed the simulated theory session. A truly amazing achievement!

Secondly, cadets were given the opportunity to join one of the local community Squadrons on Christmas walk on Hadrian’s Wall – making great memories and enjoying a doughnut or two! This picturesque area of the world not only made for some excellent photographs but was a great intro to map reading for upcoming Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

The CCF Section now also has access to its own radio communications equipment at its HQ in Southmoor House. This means our cadets can achieve several communications and cyber awards that are nationally recognised by colleges, universities and employers – as well as using radios to support various events and activities!

The Section is now open to new joiners – if you’re interested in these awesome experiences and are aged 12+, please call along to Southmoor House after school on the 22nd January.
