Cadets at the Controls

Southmoor Academy CCF cadets are flying high with their very own, state of the art, Flight Simulator.

The simulator, which accurately recreates flying conditions, weather environment and local scenery, is an immersive way to learn more about principles of flight and how an aircraft works.

With access to trained aerospace staff, cadets can truly get a feel for flying, without ever leaving Southmoor! Cameron of Year 9 said: “The simulator is actually amazing, I really enjoyed my first flight. I feel like it’s really made me consider my career choices”.

Simulator training is available to all CCF cadets as part of regular parade evenings. Pupils not part of the CCF may also use their ClassCharts points to book a short experience, though anyone looking for more in-depth training or wishing to pursue a career in aviation should consider coming along to the next intake evening on 12th May.

If you’d like to learn more in the meantime, come along to the CCF Section HQ in Southmoor House from 15:35 on a Monday afternoon.
