Building My Skills

All Year 10 students are taking part in a “Building My Skills” programme from Esh Group. This will involve local business leaders coming into school to deliver three workshops to all Year 10 students this term. In between each workshop, there will be a range of tasks to do which students will work through in their Personal Development lessons. This will lead to some students taking part in an employability workshop day in Newcastle, hosted by Esh Group. Year 10s will learn about different employment sectors and key employability skills, and find out more about local businesses.

Darush Dodds, Corporate Affairs Director from Esh Group, came into school to deliver the first workshop. Darush talked about his pathway from school to his current position. He also discussed what he feels are important employability and, in particular, leadership skills that are important in his sector. Darush talked about the projects that Esh Group, as a major construction company, have been involved in throughout the area and beyond. This workshop will lead to the first task which is about ‘Leadership’.
