A Weekend of Fun at Disney

On Friday night 100 of our most deserving students from Year 8 and 9 set off on our annual Disneyland rewards trip. They travelled down the country overnight by coach, caught an early morning ferry, and arrived in Paris mid-afternoon on Saturday. On Saturday evening they spent some time in the Disney village where they had an evening meal and some time to visit the shops. Lots of ears and many other gifts were bought and gave the students a taste of the excitement that was to come. The following morning, they started with some time in Disney Studios, where they went on rides such as the Avengers roller coaster, the Ratatouille 3D motion ride, the Spiderman Web Slinger ride and the Tower of Terror.

In the afternoon they moved over to the Magic Kingdom main park where they saw parades, shows, and went on many more roller coasters and rides, Hyperspace Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean proved some of the more popular ones. The evening meal that night was a tex-mex buffet in the Disney Village where everyone enjoyed the huge selection of food and the Mickey Mouse themed desserts. After this the students headed back into the main park where they had a few more hours of rides before the wait and anticipation ahead of the evening show.

This consisted of a spectacular projected light show, lasers and fireworks, and a very impressive drone display. The following morning saw us return to the Studios where a lot of students headed for Crush’s Coaster that had been closed the previous day, and once again we moved over to the Magic Kingdom for the final afternoon for their final opportunity to do last minute shopping and enjoy the rides and attractions. The students returned to school late on Tuesday night, exhausted, half asleep, but having had a fantastic time and their behaviour and attitude throughout was a credit to Southmoor Academy.
