This week, we were delighted to welcome Year 6 pupils and their families to Southmoor for our Transition Evening. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for students and parents to find out more about life at Southmoor, meet form tutors and future classmates, and gain a real sense of what to expect in September.
The excitement continued the following morning as over 250 Year 6 pupils returned to take part in our two-day Transition Programme. Pupils from primary schools across the city experienced a full timetable of lessons and activities designed to give them a genuine taste of Year 7 life.
This year, Year 6 pupils will also be the first to take part in our new Brilliant Beginnings programme – an exciting initiative made possible through additional funding, designed to further support a smooth and successful transition into secondary school.
Following a warm welcome from Mrs Maw in the opening assembly, pupils explored the school, sampled a range of subjects, and began building relationships with their new form tutors and peers. We look forward to welcoming many of them back for our Summer School in August, ahead of their official start at Southmoor in September.
