Southmoor’s Annual Open Evening took place on Wednesday 16th September, welcoming large numbers of families through our doors to discover what makes Southmoor such a special place to learn.
Visitors had the opportunity to explore our classrooms and facilities, meet staff and students, and experience some of the exciting opportunities available across the Academy. Our student ambassadors played an important role throughout the evening, welcoming families and helping to create the warm and vibrant atmosphere Southmoor is known for.
From engaging activities and challenges to competitions, giveaways and plenty of opportunities to chat with our staff, there was lots for families to discover.

Well done also to Isla (Barnes Juniors) who won our giant chocolate hamper prize on the evening and Sophia (St Patricks Catholic Primary School) who named this year’s open evening mascot – Nelson. Well done!
For families who are now considering their secondary school choices, applications for Year 7 places are open through Sunderland City Council until 31st October 2026.
