Sports Club for Everyone

Whilst we all know how essential it is to encourage young people to be active at this time, the Tyne and Wear School Games Organisers have met this week to discuss what support and motivation we can offer parents and guardians in keeping themselves both physically and mentally healthy.

To help with this agenda they have created a club for the staff of schools (Primary and Secondary) and parents/guardians in Tyne and Wear on the exercise app STRAVA. Any person who is employed by a school (Primary or Secondary) or who has a child who attends a school in Tyne and Wear is invited to take part.

The club intends to be a bit of fun to encourage people to get out and enjoy running/walking! Let’s see how far we can run as a collective group over this lock down period!

Starting on Friday 22nd January and competing against teams from County Durham, Northumberland and Tees Valley, the target for each county club is to travel an accumulative distance of 10,000 miles (the distance between the UK and Tokyo – the host city of the 2021 Olympic & Paralympic Games) as quickly as possible. The first club to run/walk 10,000 miles collectively are the winners.

Attached here is a guide detailing:
