Southmoor Footballers Through to the Semis

Well done to the Year 9 boys football team who beat Seaham 2-1 to reach the City Cup Semi Finals! Goals from Lewis Selbie and Daley Armstrong saw Southmoor claim the victory on a cold and wet night in Seaham. The boys played some great football, creating lots of chances and could have won comfortably but for some excellent saves from the opposition keeper. Well done lads!

In other footballing news, this week our Year 7, 8 and 9 girls travelled to Kepier School to play in the city 5-a-side football Tournament.

All matches were fast paced and very competitive and our players really showed off their ability to perform well, as a team.

The Year 8’s and 9s beat Castleview 2-0 and Seaham 2-1 (Abigail Potts, Emily Howe, Jasmine Williamson, Izzy Hunt, Esther Reddel, Kiera Gilbertson and Joanna Russell).

The Year 7s beat Seaham 2-0 and Kepier 2-1 (Amelie Jones, Isabel Jackson, Lucy Myers, Harriet Bartell and Lauren Bunting).

Both teams displayed an excellent approach to the event and were a credit to our school in terms of their commitment and attitude. Well done to all the girls that took part.
