Visitors from Across the World

Last Thursday, we welcomed 24 visitors from Hong Kong, a city and special administrative region in China, 6000 miles away. These visitors are all involved in developing a Careers Education programme in schools across the city of Hong Kong and were visiting the UK on a fact-finding mission to see how Careers has been established in our schools. The visitors were accompanied by two colleagues from the Northeast LEP. They were particularly interested in the North-East as this is where the government’s most recent Careers strategy was piloted, and they were particularly interested in visiting schools with strong Careers programme and Southmoor was honoured to have been chosen for a visit. During their visit, the guests were welcomed by Mrs Maw and listened to Mr Wareham talking about our Careers programme. They had a tour of the school led by some of our new Careers Champions and heard from some teaching colleagues about how Careers is an embedded part of our curriculum. Finally, they also gave us some information about what they have established already in Hong Kong to see if we can enhance our programme further.
