Careers Fair 2023

Last Thursday, we held our most ambitious Careers Fair yet. For the second year running, the University of Sunderland generously gave us the use of their Sports Hall in the City Space building to once again host our Careers Fair. Nearly 1000 students in Years 9 to 13 were able to spend some time at the university on Thursday. Each year group was welcomed with an introductory talk from a visiting guest speaker including three former students of Southmoor who have had successful careers. After these inspirational talks, students then had the opportunity to speak to nearly 75 organisations who had given up their time to spend the day engaging with our students.

We had a variety of local and national Higher Education providers, Further Education providers, Training and Apprenticeship providers attending, along with a huge range of employers from all different sectors. Students were given the challenge of speaking to at least 9 different organisations and finding out information about future pathways and careers opportunities. Students also had the opportunity to collect some ‘Shout out’ cards for having great conversations with our visitors which have been entered into a prize draw. We would like to thank all of the organisations who gave up their time on the day to attend our Careers Fair, the University for the use of their amazing facilities and our Careers team for their amazing organisation of this huge event.
