Down to Business at the Metro Centre

Last week our Year 10 GCSE Business students took to The Metrocentre to put their first term’s learning in to practice. Students were given tasks to carry out market research, investigate the products and services offered across a range of stores, look into the ways customer service meets the needs of a wide range of customers and find evidence of how businesses aim to increase sales at Christmas. Students were fantastics going over and above in their investigations: interviewing customer services and Metrocentre staff, speaking to other customers and completing business challenges to secure freebies!

The group represented Southmoor brilliantly from start to finish with staff from both Northern Rail and the Metrocentre going out of their way to feedback back to teachers on the trip. We are now building on their research in class to put their entrepreneurial talents into practice. A brilliant way to bring the first term of GCSE Business to a close.

Well done also to all of our the amazing Year 11 Enterprise and Marketing students who have this week blown us away with the professionalism of their exam pitches. Students have put their heart and soul into them, overcoming nerves and demonstrating that practice makes perfect.  We have very proud business team this week!
