Throughout the year, pupils will be developing their basic language skills. This will include developing the four language skills of reading, listening, writing & speaking. Pupils will cover topics enabling them to give basic information about themselves and others as well as expressing a range of different opinions. Furthermore, pupils will also be given opportunities to develop their spoken language with a native speaker.
Following a course in GCSE French or German is hugely rewarding, catering for students of all abilities and enabling progression to further study or employment. The German course will encourage learners to be inspired, moved and changed by following a broad, coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study. It should prepare learners to make informed decisions about further learning opportunities and career choices; to use language to participate effectively in society and employment as learning a language develops the four skills for communication. German lessons encourage learners to communicate with others confidently, effectively, precisely and appropriately; express themselves creatively and imaginatively; select and adapt speech and writing to different situations and audiences.
The course gives pupils the skills and structures to sit higher papers, improve their grades whilst also bridging the gap between GCSE and A Level.
