Year 7 – 8
Throughout the year, pupils will be given the opportunity to use a variety of different computing applications. This will include the creation of their own game using scratch, construction of their own app using app inventor and image/movie editing software. Pupils will also study programming/algorithmic thinking and gain an understanding of binary. Pupils will explore how to stay safe online.
Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia are media sector-focused, including film, television, web development, gaming and animation, and have IT at their heart. They provide knowledge in a number of key areas in this field from pre-production skills to multipage websites. Pupils will be assessed practically across three pieces of controlled assessment. The external examination will assess knowledge and understanding of pre-production skills which will also be applied throughout the controlled assessment units.
This course is examined over two years. The course is assessed both internally and externally. The course consists of three course work units and one exam based unit. The course work units consist of recruitment, branding and business structure. The exam based unit is assessed entirely externally and will be based on business finance.
This qualification aims to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for a career in the sector.
